One of the first things the issuer will do is pull a copy of your credit report. Issuers take a close look at your credit history to determine whether to take the risk of giving you a credit line.
One drawback with prepaid reloadable cards, as opposed to a secured credit cards, is that they do not allow the user to establish a credit history. They are -in effect- reloadable debit cards. But for an initial card to introduce youngsters to the ways of plastic, it has its uses. Note that although these cards are sometimes marketed to consumers with poor credit history who are unable to obtain unsecured cards, their utility in this regard is limited. They can offer short-term convenience in cases where plastic is required -such as for a car rental- but for those looking to re-establish their credit, they offer nothing that a secured credit card would not. Indeed, this latter alternative is still the best option for subprime consumers attempting to re-establish their credit worthiness.
Travel and Entertainment Cards:
T&E cards includeDiners Club® and American Express®. They differ from regular credit cards in that they require that customers pay their outstanding balances each month. They also tend to have high annual fees and to be accepted in far fewer places than credit cards from VISA, MasterCard and Discover. Because of their exclusivity, however, T&E cardholders usually obtain special benefits and incentives from card issuers. Holders may accrue points through airline travel, hotel stays and other business and entertainment expenses which are converted into cash or discounts. One advantage of such cards is the absence of a set spending limit. As long as a customer does not attempt charges which are clearly unpayable, there is no problem since the issuing company knows the amount will be repaid over the next payment cycle. Part of the appeal of these cards is the vanity factor which comes with the prestige of owning them. At the other end of the scale, gas cards are a form of Travel and Entertainment cards and are much easier to obtain.
If you pay your balance in full every month, the best credit cards for you would be rewards credit cards. A low interest rate will not be of any benefit to you because when you pay your balance in full you will pay little or no interest. The benefits offered by rewards credit cards would be best for you. You can enjoy rewards such as cash back, airline and many other rewards. Do you have less than perfect credit? If so, the best credit cards for you would be secured credit cards or credit cards designed to help you re-establish your credit.
Misrepresent prices and payments for merchandise. You’re not allowed to charge the total amount when you buy merchandise from gold or platinum card catalogues. Instead, you often must pay a cash deposit on each item you charge—an amount usually equal to what the company paid for the product. Only after you pay your deposit can you charge the balance. Also, catalogue prices can be much higher than discount store prices.
Paying only the minimum will cost you an exorbitant amount of money in interest and take forever to pay off. For example, if your credit card has a $5000 balance with 15 percent interest rate, it will take you 21 years and five months to be rid of your debt if you only pay the minimum. In that time, you will pay $4,757.98 in interest.
Interest. A charge for borrowed money, generally a percentage of the amount owed.

The great thing about owning one of these accounts is that you will be able to make online purchases. When you apply for a Visa you will be opening up yourself to a whole new shopping experience. The reason why there are so many free credit card company applications available online is because there is such a growing demand for them. This is partly because of the explosive growth of e-commerce and shopping sites on the web.
If you’re looking for credit, be wary of some gold or platinum card offers promising to get you credit cards or improve your credit rating.
Also, I would like to mention the Marriott Rewards Card if you travel a lot. It has paid for my hotel more than a few times. If you open a bank account make sure they pay for other banks ATM’s, and/or give you rewards on your ATM Visa Debit Charges; If you get a credit card make sure it either has the low interest your looking for or the rewards that will help you. If you are not a strong willed person then I suggest just pay in cash. I always look for companies that can give me benefits in return to being their customer that is why there is a thing called competition

The first step toward repairing credit is to find out exactly what is owed and to whom. Current copies of credit reports should be obtained from all the major credit bureaus. Free copies of these reports are available if credit has been denied recently, usually within thirty to sixty days. If any inaccurate information is shown on any any of the reports, this information should be disputed. This action may be initiated by telephone but it is better to do this in writing for documentation. Credit bureaus must investigate disputes promptly, normally within thirty ydays. If this time passes and no correspondence or other communication is received, the credit bureau should be contacted again, both by telephone and in writing.
Use ‘900’ or ‘976’ telephone exchanges. Ads for gold and platinum cards may urge you to call numbers with ‘900’ or ‘976’ exchanges for more information. Phone calls with these prefixes—even if you never get the gold or platinum card are high cost.
Always keep credit information current by obtaining copies of credit records at least once yearly after resolving problems. This will also act as an alert to any credit fraud that may be occuring.
